On a crisp winter Friday morning, more than 4,000 community members rose early and gathered at Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi for our annual Walk a Mile in My Boots community event.

Dressed in bright orange and united by a shared purpose, we came together from all walks of life – as families, friends, schools, and workplace – to walk in solidarity with people experiencing homelessness in South Australia

It was a special morning filled with fun, energy, and community spirit – also serving as a sombre reminder that too many people in our state are without a safe place to call home. Your kindness means they never have to endure homelessness alone.

What began as a grassroots movement 18 years ago has grown into Adelaide’s most significant public display of support for an end to homelessness.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of people walking, donating, and fundraising, this year’s event raised more than $470,000 to help provide essential services at Hutt St Centre.

At a time when more than 7,400 South Australians are experiencing homelessness, many for the first time in their lives, the need for support has never been greater.

Because of your kindness, people doing it tough can access nourishing meals, clean clothes, healthcare, connection and safety while they work towards homefulness.
