We are proud to have Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia as the patron for Hutt St Centre. 

Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC was sworn in as Governor of South Australia in October, 2021. Her Excellency was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) in June, 2021, for eminent service to public administration through the advancement of Australia’s diplomatic, trade and cultural interests. 

Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC was born and grew up in South Australia.

She studied economics at the University of Adelaide, while there becoming the first female captain of the boat club in its 103-year history and went on to join the Commonwealth Department of Foreign Affairs in 1985. Her Excellency worked in Hong Kong during the early years of China’s reform and opening, headed the Australian Commerce and Industry Office in Taipei and later served as Australia’s Ambassador to China. Earlier in her career she served twice in the Australian High Commission in London.

In 2016, Her Excellency was appointed head of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, pursuing Australia’s interests as world powers shifted and the COVID-19 pandemic took hold. She also led the department through a period of cultural change, encouraging more women into senior ranks.

She has also been International Adviser to the Prime Minister and Chief of Staff to the Foreign Minister and Defence Minister.

In June 2021, Her Excellency was made a Companion of the Order of Australia for eminent service to public administration through the advancement of Australia’s diplomatic, trade and cultural interests, particularly with the People’s Republic of China and the Indo-Pacific region, to innovative foreign policy development and high level program delivery, and as the 36th Governor appointed in South Australia.

She is also a Dame of Grace of the Order of St John and patron of some 120 organisations in her own right and more than 50 jointly with her husband Rod.

Her Excellency is a Fellow of both the Institute of Public Administration of Australia and the Australian Institute of International Affairs. She holds Honorary Doctorates from the University of Adelaide and the Australian National University.

Her Excellency is married to Mr Rod Bunten, a physicist, former British diplomat and high school teacher. They have four adult children and a Cavoodle, Alfie.

Amanda Blair has been writing opinion columns for over 20 years. A former talk show host, she always has something to say. Sometimes funny, sometimes controversial but always honest.

Since 1977, Bernard Booth has grown to become synonymous with unparalleled knowledge, passion, integrity, energy, and sheer hard work. In that time, generations of property owners have put their trust in Bernard and his team to deftly manage the sale of their homes, and similarly, innumerable purchasers have sought Booth’s counsel and guidance as they achieve new and rewarding milestone in life.

Elspeth Hussey is a reporter and presenter for 7NEWS, Adelaide’s top-rating news service. She covers stories that matter to South Australians – from breaking news and natural disasters to high-profile crimes and Royal visits.

Elspeth has anchored morning, afternoon, and evening bulletins, including the Weekend Early Edition, and played a key role in the network’s coronavirus coverage.

Outside the newsroom, she is a corporate MC and host, including as match-day host for the Adelaide Crows. Highlights include hosting the 2019 AFLW Grand Final in front of a record 53,034-strong crowd. She also hosts black-tie dinners, awards shows, and fashion events for corporate and non-profit organisations.

Passionate about connecting with people and sharing stories, Elspeth brings energy and commitment to every broadcast and event.

Hayley Pearson is the co-creator, writer, and presenter of Adelady and Hello SA on Channel Nine. She shares the best of South Australia – and beyond – across the Adelady website, social media, print magazine, and every Sunday on Hello SA at 5.30pm alongside her co-host Lauren DeCesare.

Hayley began her media career in radio in 2003, hosting shows across Australia and embracing the adventures that came with it. In 2010, she returned to Adelaide for family, friends, and a breakfast radio role she couldn’t resist.

In 2019, Hayley chose to focus fully on Adelady, pursuing her dream of highlighting South Australia, and hasn’t looked back.

Henry Hunt, originally from country New South Wales, is a prominent ambassador for South Australian cricket, known for his professionalism, leadership, and commitment to the game. Since joining the West End Redbacks in 2019/20, Henry has distinguished himself not only with his performance on the field but also as a positive role model and representative of the sport.

He has received national recognition for his achievements, including being named South Australia’s best male player with the Neil Dansie Medal and sharing the Sheffield Shield Player of the Year award. Henry has also captained the Redbacks, demonstrating strong leadership and mentoring emerging talent.

Beyond his sporting accomplishments, Henry is highly regarded for his engagement with the community, inspiring the next generation and promoting cricket across South Australia.

Born in Adelaide, Amanda Vanstone studied arts and law at the University of Adelaide and before entering politics worked in the legal area, retailing and small business.

Amanda entered the Australian Parliament in 1984 and was a Liberal senator for South Australia from 1984 to 2007. She was the only female member of the Howard cabinet following the 1996 election that brought the Coalition to power. She held several ministerial portfolios in the Howard government including minister for employment, education, training and youth affairs, minister for justice and customs, minister for family and community services, minister assisting the prime minister for the status of women, minister for immigration and multicultural and Indigenous affairs, and minister assisting the prime minister for reconciliation.

After her resignation from the Senate in 2007, Amanda served as the Australian ambassador to Italy until July 2010. Amanda was a commissioner on the Federal Commission of Audit in 2013-March 2014. She also serves on the boards, councils and committees for various organisations, including Drinkwise Australia, the Adelaide Festival of Arts, Woomera Protected Area Advisory Committee, Lockheed Martin Australia, the University of Adelaide and Vision 2020.

The Hon. Gregory Crafter was admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia in 1978 and joined Johnston Withers as a consultant in July 1994.

Greg has a distinguished record in public service, having served as a Member of the South Australian Parliament for the electorate of Norwood from 1979 to 1993. During his parliamentary career, he held several ministerial portfolios, including:

  • Community Welfare (1982–1985)

  • Aboriginal Affairs (1982–1988)

  • Education and Children’s Services (1985–1992)

  • Housing, Urban Development, Local Government Relations, Recreation and Sport (1992–1993)

Greg’s contributions have been widely recognised. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 2009 and holds honorary doctorates from the University of Adelaide and the Australian Catholic University.

On the international stage, Greg served as President of the Geneva-based International Baccalaureate Organisation and chaired its Executive Committee from 1996 to 2003, earning global recognition for his leadership in education.

Jim Whiting OAM is a founding shareholder and director of BADGE, guiding the company’s growth since its establishment in 1983. Under his leadership, BADGE has become one of Australia’s largest privately owned builders, with a turnover of around $400 million and a team of over 260 professionals.

Jim is committed to fostering leadership both within the business and the wider community, encouraging senior staff to engage with industry associations and not-for-profit organisations. His focus on sustainable growth, professionalism, and community impact has been central to BADGE’s long-term success.

Justin Westhoff is a retired AFL footballer whose 14‑year career with Port Adelaide Football Club spanned 280 games, with his versatility across forward, midfield, defence and ruck earning him respect as one of the club’s most dependable and selfless players.

Since retiring in 2020, Justin has redirected his energy toward social enterprise and community support. He co‑founded Forage Supply Co. — a sustainable food business — and helped launch Forage BUILT, an initiative aimed at developing transportable housing solutions for people impacted by homelessness.

As a committed ambassador for Hutt St Centre, Justin regularly volunteers at the Centre’s meal services, contributes to fundraising events — including the annual Walk a Mile in My Boots campaign — and uses his public profile to raise awareness of homelessness in South Australia.

Whether on the football field or off it, Justin remains dedicated to service, community and social impact — using every opportunity to give back.

Katrina Webb is a Paralympic champion, leadership strategist, and global speaker. With three gold, three silver, and one bronze medal, she draws on her elite-sport experience to help individuals and teams unlock their best selves, enhance performance, and lead with purpose.

Founder of Silver 2 Gold High Performance Solutions and Newday Leadership, Katrina delivers leadership programs, wellbeing training, and personal-growth workshops worldwide. She is also a global ambassador for the International Paralympic Committee and has spoken at the United Nations.

Beyond her professional work, Katrina is a mother of three and continues to challenge herself through adventure and personal development, reflecting her commitment to resilience, growth, and impact.

Lainie Anderson is a seasoned journalist, historian and author whose 35‑year career spans print media, public relations and historical fiction.

Her debut novel Long Flight Home (2019) explored one of aviation history’s great feats — the 1919 England‑to‑Australia air race. In 2024 she completed a PhD at the University of South Australia on pioneering policewoman Kate Cocks — a historic study that inspired her bestselling Petticoat Police Mystery novels, The Death of Dora Black and Murder on North Terrace.

Lainie is active across many community and heritage organisations: she sits on the executive committee of the History Council of South Australia, serves on the selection committee of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, is a History Guardian with the History Trust of South Australia, and is a proud ambassador for Hutt St Centre.

With her roots in journalism and deep passion for South Australia’s history, Lainie continues to champion stories of heritage, courage and community.

Matt Tarrant is one of Australia’s most celebrated magicians and mentalists, renowned for his sold‑out stage shows, touring productions, and dynamic mentalism that captivates audiences across the country.

Originally from Adelaide, Matt left a corporate banking career to pursue magic full-time — a decision that led him to become the highest‑selling solo artist in the history of Adelaide Fringe and to receive multiple festival accolades.

Beyond entertainment, Matt is deeply committed to using his public profile for good. Every year he lends his support to Hutt St Centre through participation in the Walk a Mile in My Boots campaign — helping raise awareness and funds for people impacted by homelessness in South Australia.

Matt also mentors emerging performers and supports the next generation of artists, reflecting his belief that magic — like community — is at its strongest when shared.

Simon Bryant is a celebrated chef, food advocate, and former co-host of The Cook and the Chef. He is known for championing South Australia’s local produce, ethical sourcing, and seasonal cooking.

As creative director and Patron of Tasting Australia, Simon highlights the state’s culinary talent and regions, while mentoring the next generation of chefs. Beyond his professional work, he remains hands-on in the kitchen and regularly helps in the Dining Room at Hutt St Centre, supporting people impacted by homelessness.

Taryn Brumfitt is a filmmaker, bestselling author, and founder of the Body Image Movement. She is a passionate advocate for body positivity and self-acceptance, inspiring millions worldwide through her documentaries Embrace and Embrace Kids.

Named Australian of the Year in 2023, Taryn also co-founded The Embrace Collective, a charity supporting body-positive education and wellbeing initiatives. She continues to empower individuals and organisations to build confidence, resilience, and self-compassion.

Vicky Welgraven is a proud Adnyamathanha woman and leading advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. She champions gender equality, respectful relationships, and an end to family and domestic violence through her work with White Ribbon Australia, Our Watch, and national initiatives.

Vicky is a recognised leader, Australia Day Ambassador, and member of the Port Adelaide AFLW Steering Committee, using her voice to drive change and support her community.
