Messages of thanks from our visitors
“Angels live here.”
This is a message we received recently from Casey* – a woman who turned to Hutt St Centre for help after losing her home and finding herself short of friends she could rely on.
In the past year, our doors have been open for 33,308 visits from people just like Casey, seeking support on their journey out of homelessness.
That's up 47% from the previous year, which just goes to show how many people are doing it tough in our community right now.
There's simply no way our hard-working team could meet this growing need without the unwavering commitment of Hutt St Centre's 230 volunteers.
As another visitor, Margot* shared with us recently: “Hutt St Centre's volunteers make an amazing contribution to help people in need. When times get tough, they give us the strength we need to carry on.”
And Dave*, who came in for a much-needed meal, told us: “I love everything about Hutt St. The volunteers who give their time are just unbelievable! Thanks to you all, I'm well-fed and HUMBLED. Thank you so very much.”
On behalf of Casey, Margot, Dave and everyone here at Hutt St Centre, we wish our volunteers a very happy National Volunteer Week! Thank you for ensuring our doors remain open to people when they need us most.
