The power of community

Shout out to some fan favourites who went the extra mile to help us out today! 

Our regular kitchen volunteers (and a few starstruck staff and clients!) were thrilled to welcome Port Adelaide Football Club players and alum, Trent Dumont, Justin Westhoff, Sam Hayes, Hugh Jackson, Dylan Williams and Ollie Lord (L-R).

During a busy lunch shift, the players helped prepare and serve around 75 nutritious lunches. Hutt St Centre Ambassador, Westy, said the team was grateful for the experience and loved working alongside Kitchen Manager Pete and our dedicated volunteers.

But the highlight was getting to chat with the diverse mix of people who visit the Centre for a healthy meal. It's safe to say our clients loved meeting the team too – whether Port supporters or not, plenty took the opportunity to grab a selfie with the boys!

Hutt St Centre has a 10+ year history with the Port Adelaide Football Club, and it’s great to be engaging with them again after a number of activities were paused due to COVID-19. Trent is now also a regular kitchen volunteer and will be supporting some exciting initiatives coming up during Men’s Health Week.
