Peter's Story
Have you ever wondered why some people have to deal with so much sadness, loss and misfortune in their life, while others seem to sail along on calm blue seas? Here at Hutt St Centre we are often amazed at the resilience of people who face and overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
One such person is Peter, who has been coming to Hutt St Centre for 3 years. Peter has faced the challenge of homelessness as a double amputee. Our Aged City Living Team’s Community Outreach program has supported Peter in learning to live independently. Cooking classes, connecting with the community and joining an amputee support group have helped Peter progress.
With renewed confidence Peter took up eight ball, the first sport he has tackled since his amputation four years ago. He is now looking at which other sports he can pursue and is hoping he may have those calm blue seas ahead of him.
