Your kindness helps overcome barriers to lifechanging support

Without the security and safety of having a place to call home, many people face significant challenges in accessing government support to help them rebuild their lives.

Jonathan’s* struggle with anxiety meant it was too difficult for him to go to a Centrelink office, making it impossible to get help.

That’s where Eli from Services Australia comes in. Eli has been at Hutt St Centre for the past eighteen months, providing a safe environment for people to discuss their problems with understanding.

Eli’s work as a Community Partnership Specialist Officer breaks down barriers to essential support for people like Jonathan:

“Eli made me feel comfortable and calm. She helped me with the whole application as I cannot use the internet. This is a big weight off my shoulder!"

Tim* has Parkinson’s disease, he went to Eli for help applying for government payments:

“Eli has been an absolute godsend! She helped with every step of my application for Jobseeker payment and Disability Support Pension. She treats each person with respect. I wouldn’t have been able to access this service without Eli being at Hutt St."

Eli has a message of thanks for your generosity.

“Your donations help people visiting Hutt St Centre by giving them dignity, hope, and a sense of belonging. It shows that people in South Australia care for them at times when they feel so alone."

Your kindness ensures people facing homelessness don’t have to miss out on support to help them get back on their feet. Thank you for making this work possible and providing hope in people’s toughest moments.

PLEASE DONATE

*While some names and images have been changed for privacy, these stories are very real and reflect how important your generosity is for helping people make their steps out of homelessness.

Warmth in Every Stitch

22/08/2024

We were recently touched by a beautiful act of kindness from Brenda, a caring member of our community. With a lifelong love for knitting and crocheting, Brenda found solace in creating beanies, which also helped soothe her arthritic hands. Moved by her daughter's commitment to our cause, Brenda generously donated over fifty of her cosy, hand-knit beanies to provide comfort...
